MedAdvance
My name is Manuel Ortiz and I am the Co-President of the University of Oregon's Pre-Dental Club. For the past four years, Minority Association for Pre-Med Students (MAPS), in collaboration with other pre-health clubs around campus, has hosted a one-day conference for students who are interested in the healthcare field, called Med Advance. During Med Advance students can attend a maximum of three, 1 hour, hands-on workshops, and network with physicians in the local Eugene area.
This year, they are wanting to expand the resources given during Med Advance and would like to invite dentists to come and help host our suturing workshop alongside another medical doctor (help teach dental related sutures). We are also currently looking for people to be a part of our professionals panel for Med Advance. Students will have the chance to ask professionals in the health field their burning questions in a panel-based discussion format. This event is currently planned for Saturday, February 28th, 2026, from 11am to 5pm. With setup for tabling starting around 10am and workshop setup starting around 9:30am. In previous years, around 100-120 students attended the event with approximately 25 students split between 6 workshops. For the whole day, each workshop will have approximately 75 students in attendance with there being a mix of pre-med, dental, PT, OT, and optometry students. We are reaching out to dental professionals who are interested in attending our panel. Based on this we would appreciate a headshot and short paragraph about yourself to showcase to students at the event.
This event will take place at the University of Oregon, Erb Memorial Union (EMU) Ballroom on the second floor. Please let me know if you are interested or have any questions we would love to have you in attendance, thank you!
Best,
Manuel Ortiz
