Jan Malone Dental Assisting Scholarship
Lane Community College offers a fully accredited, comprehensive one-year Dental Assisting program that trains motivated students to become oral healthcare professionals. The Jan Malone endowed Dental Assisting Scholarship was established in 2004 in honor of Jan Malone, who served as the Executive Secretary of the LCDS for 27 years, to cover the cost of national certification exams for LCC dental assisting students.

Jen Helling Memorial Scholarship
Jennifer Helling graduated from the LCC dental hygiene program in 2015 after being diagnosed with melanoma in her second year. Jen was committed to completing the program despite undergoing treatments, a feat that deeply amazed and inspired those of us who are familiar with the rigors of the program. Cancer claimed Jen’s life in 2018, just 3 short years after graduating. She is lovingly remembered for her kindness and contagious spirit of positivity; her memory lives on among faculty and students whose lives she touched deeply. In 2019, we created a scholarship in Jen’s honor, which benefits a second-year dental hygiene student.
